Rudy, oh Rudy

I recently read a “nice” little puff piece on Rudy Giuliani by the Christian Science Monitor. What is not surprising is that it opens with a bit on 9/11 and then moves into talking about his faith, and belief in God. What I find funny about it is that this “good Catholic” is divorced, cheated on his wife publicly, has children who hate him, and generally a scumbag. They do bring up some of the less savory characteristics in the second part of the article though.Rudy likes to invoke 9/11 and to claim he was a great mayor. The reality is, of course, a bit less clear. He had an inclination for claiming other people’s accomplishments as his own. The crime rate began dropping before he became the mayor; for example. And many think race relations worsened under him. He is not really well loved in NY, especially NYC. And he is very much the opportunist in his views, as well as has had some shady dealings with various figures. The FDNY particularly does not like him, and many blame him for his decision to use the WTC as the emergency response center over objections of various nyc officials. If Rudy got the republican nomination, there is a good chance he’d not win his home state. That would be interesting, especially if Hilary Clinton wins the Democrat nomination.

Let’s Sue Apple Some More!

Since it’s the lawsuit season, a woman, from NY, has decided to sue Apple over the price cut and rebate they offered. What does she want? <DrEvil>One Million Dollars</DrEvil>. Crazy isn’t it? I was an early adopter with my iPhone (yay), and while the $200 price drop sucked, Apple at least made an offering of some kind in response. Sure it was a $100 gift certificate, but I got me a Jawbone, which rocks, and a nice case for the iPhone. So while Apple made out like a bandit, I don’t feel too ripped off. I knew what I was getting into by buying one so quickly. Frankly, I did not care either. I just enjoy my phone.Her claim is she cannot now sell her existing phone for a profit and get an 8GB model. Last I checked there was no legal obligation for a vendor to guarantee a resell price on a product. This is, what I like to refer to as, “eBayer got fucked trying to insanely mark up a hot item.” Her arguments also include bits about unlocking be possible (not anymore!) and Apple stock prices. It will be interesting to see whether she can pull this off at all.

I am a Twitter Whore

As a last bit, a friend hooked me onto Twitter a short while ago. It’s pretty neat, very narcissistic, and kind of fun. If anyone else uses it, please let me know so I can stalk you better. Look for lomifeh there.
