I went to see my first opera live last Thursday at the New York State Theater. I saw the NY City Opera perform “Carmen” by Georges Bizet. I really enjoyed watching it, and it is something I will end up doing again. The set was great, but the singers were amazing. It is what I expected though in some aspects I was surprised. Watching it on TV I never was able to get a full appreciation for the theatrical aspect of opera. Seeing it in person made me appreciate the performing aspect much more.
Took some more pictures, nothing amazing but it was a nice walk and they came out nice I think. I did do some experimenting with HDR photography though, I have a long way to go I think before I get the hang of that. I also need to look for better subjects to shoot.
Time to enter my more vain mode
. Debating on cutting my hair shorter. It’s rather long right now, but I like it. Usually I get bored with it and chop it all off. This is what it looks like right now. I’ll end up just doing it on a whim probably at some point. At the least I think I need a trim.
A lot has been going on lately in my life. I am at times almost too busy to do much of anything. I am making an effort to stop working so much. I work too much in general though. I guess it is a hazard of being single. Holidays approach though so I should be able to cut back in a week or two. At least I am caught up on dishes and laundry though.
Read a Robert Frost poem today that I have not in a long time. It talks about Autumn. I’ll let it speak for itself.
Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.
