And She Got Hit By a Bus

Just a quickie.

There is that saying about “What if they get hit by a bus.” Well I’ve always assumed it was just that, but today the tale become truth at work. We have a developer at work that for many years was the only person who worked on/knew a specific application. We’d joke about her, or some others “Well we need a backup in case she gets hit by a bus or something.” Well today that kind of happened.

I was talking to someone and he was all “Oh, she was not in today!” and me, not knowing what was up asked why. My co-worker then went on to tell me that she was in an accident. The bus she was taking to work got into a car accident and she got thrown from her seat and whapped against another. She ended up in the hospital for a checkout. She was bruised but ok. And then it occurred to me. In a way she had been hit by a bus. Of course she was inside said bus but she got banged up by it. So now I know, people do get hit by buses in varying ways. We did get her a backup about four months ago though, so I guess she was allowed to go toe to toe with a bus.
